Teens (age 13 to 17) purchased 19 percent less music in 2008 than they did in 2007, according to a new report from the NPD Group.
CD purchasing feel 26 percent and paid digital downloads dropped 13 percent compared to the previous year. With paid digital downloads, 32 percent of teens purchasing less digital music said they were unhappy with the music that was available for purchase and 23 percent were satisfied were satisfied with the digital music they already owned.

Increase Online Video Viewing by 40%
Research conducted by PLYmedia shows that subtitles in online videos increase the the amount of time a user spends watching them by 40%. Furthermore, in a comparison between subtitled videos to identical videos without subtitles, PLYmedia found that the videos with subtitles were watched 91% to completion, compared with 66% to completion for those without subtitles.
Online Ad Revenue Up 10.6%
Internet advertising revenues in the U.S. remain solid, reaching $23 billion in 2008, according to a new report from the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Overall 2008 revenues totaled a record $23.4 billion, surpassing 2007’s record of $21.2 billion by $2.2 billion or 10.6 percent.
UK Online Publishers Predict Digital Revenues Will Grow 16% In
UK online publishers predict their digital revenues will increase by 16 percent this year, according to an annual census survey by the Association of Online Publishers (AOP).
The census was carried out from February 9 to March 2, against the backdrop of economic uncertainty. Digital publishers remain pragmatic about their long -term future of their businesses with 63 percent of online publishers planning to increase their digital investment this year, while only 7 percent anticipate a decrease in investment.

UK iPhone Users Most Active Online
The majority (93%) of iPhone owners in the United Kingdom accessed mobile media in January, according to comScore.
Mobile email is used by 75 percent of British iPhone owners, making it the most popular type of mobile content consumed on the device.
"Consumers are clearly embracing the iPhone’s touch screen keyboard," said Alistair Hill, analyst, comScore. "The penetration of e-mail usage on the iPhone is more than double that of the smartphone category as a whole."
Microsoft Partners With NASA To Put Images Online
Microsoft has partnered with NASA to put the space agency’s most interesting content, such as high- resolution images of Mars and the moon online.
Microsoft’s online virtual telescope, WorldWide Telescope will feature the images. Under the agreement, NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California will process and host the data.
