CEOs Split On Social Media Effectiveness

When it comes to social media 29 percent of CEOs believe that social media tools can be an effective way to communicate with stakeholders while an equal amount (29%) believes social media is ineffective according to a survey from PRWeek and PR firm Burson-Marsteller.The survey found that 42 percent of CEOs personally participate in social media outlets, but just 18 percent of CEOs have used social media to engage their company’s stakeholders.

Social Network Launches For Iraq And Afghanistan Veterans

The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) has partnered with the Ad Council to launch a national multimedia public service advertising campaign (PSA) along with a new social networking Web site geared exclusively toward Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.The new Web site CommunityofVeterans.org, provides information that can help veterans with transitional and readjustment issues, including a searchable database of national and local resources on topics such as jobs, education and health.

Social Media Leads Holiday Shoppers To Bargains

Social media will play a role this holiday season in how people find bargains, with nearly 30 percent of online shoppers saying the best way to find discounts is through sharing links, comments or social sites, according to a new survey from Guidance.Email is popular with 45 percent of respondents who say it is the best way to learn about deals while 16 percent said they find out about discounts from a retailers Web site, and 10 percent cited banner ads.

How Effective Is Social Network Advertising?

Social network advertising is not only not annoying but surprisingly effective in some segments, according to the results of a new survey by Razorfish. In FEED: the Razorfish Consumer Experience Report 2008, Razorfish surveyed “connected consumers”—1006 people with broadband access who spent at least $200 online in the past year, used a community site such as MySpace and consumed or made some type of digital media including videos and music.
