Twitter’s Ad Platform Shows Some Savvy
So why the quotation marks around the word ads in the title? It’s like that age old question of if a tree falls in the forest but there is no one there to hear it does it make a sound? This version however reads like, “If you place and “ad” on a website and nobody paid for it is it an “ad”?
Warner Launches On Demand Service For Classic Films
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group (WBHEG) has announced it has launched an on – demand DVD and digital downloading service offering movies from its library before 1986.
At WarnerArchive.com, movie fans can choose from more than 150 classic titles that have never been available on DVD or for digital download. Some of the titles include Academy Award nominee "Sunrise at Campobello," "The Citadel," and "Mr. Lucky."
Gore Unbans Press From Wireless Industry Keynote
Al Gore charges a lot of money to talk, and likely that was the reason for banning the press from a forthcoming keynote at the CTIA Wireless 2009 tradeshow in Vegas; can’t let those juicy words leak out to the general public for nothing.
Students Invited To Google Summer Of Code
It’s no secret that the job market is less than robust right now, and things look especially grim for people who don’t have their feet wedged in some doors. Fortunately, Google Summer of Code 2009 is swooping in to give students all sorts of great opportunities.
Lexicon and the Potential of Facebook Search
The whole real-time search discussion has been heavily focused on Twitter, and that is certainly a huge part of it, but while it has certainly been touched upon, Facebook has not received as much attention in this area.
Facebook is a huge part of the equation. It’s much larger than Twitter (at least at this point in time), and the social network’s recent shift to Twitter-like real time updates only highlights the subject even more.
Black Hat SEO Lucrative For Cybercrooks
Obviously, cyber crooks wouldn’t do what they do if there wasn’t any money in it. Thanks to some black-hat search engine optimization and a little rogueware (a.k.a. scareware), some are making almost $11,000 a day, according to FinJan’s first Cybercrime Intelligence Report for 2009.
Facebook’s New Strategy: Ignore Your Customers
Remember all that talk about Facebook becoming more democratic? Despite the highly publicized rhetoric, all appearances point to a Mark Zuckerberg dictatorship, relatively deaf to user complaints. While business owners have the right and responsibility to run their business as they see fit, the young CEO might want to reconsider saying one thing and doing another. It’ll just come back to bite him.
LinkedIn Does Some Redesigning of Its Own
Facebook is not the only social network doing some redesigning. LinkedIn has made some changes to users’ inboxes on the homepage.
These changes are certainly not as drastic as Facebook’s which have the community in an uproar. I might be wrong, but I don’t expect much of a backlash here. The inbox now only appears on your home page when you have unread messages (though your inbox and read messages will always be available from the left-hand navigation bar).
Tweeting for Customer Relationship Management
Salesforce.com has added Twitter support to its Service Cloud offering, which was released earlier in the year. Salesforce breaks down what companies can expect to get out of the service:
Twitter Measured Against Google, Facebook Yardsticks
Twitter turned three years old this weekend, and to hear some people tell it, the service is on a path that’ll have it taking over the world in no time. But comparisons to a sort of kinder, less articulate Stewie Griffin may be a little premature, since it turns out Twitter hasn’t measured up to two other companies.
