Online Holiday Spending Sets New Record

Online holiday retail spending has slowed slightly, but remains relatively solid according, to a new report from comScore.For the holiday season through December 12, $19.44 billion has been spent online, about the same amount as last year. For the twelve days beginning with December 1 (Cyber Monday), the kick-off to the heaviest part of the online shopping season, sales totaled $8.26 billion up 3 percent compared to a year ago.

Time Spent With Online Content Reaches Record High

The Online Publishers Association (OPA) announced toady that time spent with online content reached a 2008 high in October, according to its Internet Activity Index (IAI).While time spent with content jumped in October, share of time spent with ecommerce hit an all time low. The OPA launched the index over four years ago, it measures the amount of time consumers spend online each month with ecommerce, communication, community, content, and search.

AOL Still Reaching Record Numbers

You would think that the growth of broadband usage would take away from AOL’s business. That and the fact that they’ve been closing down services like mad.  Despite these things, AOL has managed to hit an all time high when it comes to traffic numbers, and has experienced year-over-year growth for unique visitors for the 21st month in a row. The following AOL sites reached all-time high page view numbers in October:

Newspaper Web Sites See Record Traffic

Monthly unique visitors to newspaper Web sites averaged 62.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2007, setting a record according to a new report by Nielsen Online for the Newspaper Association of America (NAA).
Average monthly unique audience figures for newspaper Web sites grew by more than 3.6, an increase of more than six percent over 2006 numbers. Unique visitors in the fourth quarter represented a nine percent increase over the same period a year ago (57.6 million).
