Time Spent With Online Content Reaches Record High

The Online Publishers Association (OPA) announced toady that time spent with online content reached a 2008 high in October, according to its Internet Activity Index (IAI).While time spent with content jumped in October, share of time spent with ecommerce hit an all time low. The OPA launched the index over four years ago, it measures the amount of time consumers spend online each month with ecommerce, communication, community, content, and search.

Hanging Out Online IS Good For Teens

I feel vindicated. Even though I’m not a teenager – a recent study has encouraging findings. Most parents of teens who spend time online think they are wasting time. They probably discourage it. But hold on, it might not be so bad. The study, supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, looked at “how digital media is changing how young people learn, play, socialize, and participate in civic life.”

Online Advertising Slowing, But Still Growing!

Online advertising growth is set to slow into single digits for the first time in 2009 according to eMarketer’s revised projections.eMarketer is basing its projections on the latest Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) data. It says online ad spending will reach 25.7 billion in 2009, which is 8.9 percent over the $23.6 billion that will be spent in 2008.Previously eMarketer predicted in August that online ad spending would grow 14.5 percent in 2009.

Tips For Online Retailers Preparing For Cyber Monday

With the official holiday shopping season beginning next week, U.S. retailers expect "Black Friday" (November 28 this year) sales will grow 1.2 percent.For "Cyber Monday" the first Monday after Thanksgiving, retailers expect to see growth of 2.4 percent, according to a study from BDO Seidman.Online sales are projected to grow 8 percent and gift card sales are expected to grow 5.1 percent.

Holiday Shoppers To Spend More Of Their Budgets Online

More people will continue to choose to buy their gifts online this holiday season, citing convenience, time saving and price as the primary reasons for shopping on the Internet, according to a new survey from Nielsen Online.More than half (53%) of consumers say price is the reason to buy online, compared to 46 percent last year. Convenience is also a major factor for shopping online with 76 percent of consumers citing the ability to shop 24 hours a day and 74 percent saying it saves them time when they shop online.
