Google is expanding its traffic layers in Google Maps. They’re now showing traffic conditions on arterial roads in selected cities, but is working on doing this to cover all U.S. highways and arterials when data is available.
Twitter to Become Location Aware
Twitter just announced that it has plans to launch a feature that makes the service location-aware. They’re rolling out a new API that will allow developers to add latitude and longitude to any specific tweet.
Location Adds Purpose and Context to Twitter
Knowing where people are tweeting from can enrich the Twitter experience in many cases. It appears that Twitter agrees with this, and has some wheels in motion.
Location can add context to a tweet, or to a conversation in general. More geo-information would serve only to make Twitter a more valuable tool. Dan Frommer says Twitter’s next project is location. He writes:
