PROTECT YOURSELF
In part 2 of this 4 part article on information security, the CISP policy (Cardholder Information Security Policy) being mandated by financial acquiring networks was covered. These mandates were mainly about protecting the credit cardholder and the acquiring merchant bank from having vital information fall into the wrong hands.

In part of 1 this article, risk management was covered, outlining some of the threats and the need for a risk management plan.
THE RISK FACTOR
Are you at risk? If your vital information is, then so are you. While you’re struggling to make sales or generate Web site traffic, managing risks to protect vital information is probably the furthest thing from your mind. None-the-less, as times become more perilous, risk management is an essential part of the on-line presence.
Honestly, I’m not a big affiliate fan because in the past I haven’t gotten 90% of the money promised either because they disappear before they pay out or they have so many exceptions — paying out once a quarter, has to be over X dollars first, etc. Another negative side is that some of them think that 10% commission or some low amount is worth the 20 hours it takes for us to sell it. Usually the 10% equal $10 and $10 isn’t worth my reputation even $1000 actually.
If you are new to the world of Internet marketing or just curious about the income possibilities I will do my best to shed some light on this murky subject.
Have you ever heard the saying, “Give and you shall receive”? Well, with information publishing, this saying is one of the most important you will ever hear. Let me explain:
When people come to your website they have a mental map of how their ‘ideal’ webpage should be. They expect to see certain things in certain places. They expect to read certain killer words in your classification and content. The more you meet their mental map, the more successful your website will be.
For people who work with information, the problem used to be finding enough of it. If you were analyzing a subject, or writing a report, most of your time was spent finding the information you needed.
If your website visitors are like me, they may visit your site. They may read your sales letter. They may check out some of your links. They may even sign your guestbook. But… if that’s all you have to offer, don’t expect them to come back again!
I have had several emails lately with people asking what to do about Information Overload. They spend all their time downloading fr^ee ebooks, subscribing and then deleting ezines, visiting websites and so on.
