Choosing A Product Type that Sells

Listen up: Choosing a product is the MOST IMPORTANT DECISION you will make in your online business. Here’s why: The product you choose will determine your market, your inventory, your expenses, your advertising. Everything you do online will hinge on what you choose.

So, how do you know what to choose? Well, I have written thousands of words on defining a market niche and finding a product to market TO that niche. You can read many of those articles in the “past issues” section of my online ezine:

WHY CHOOSING FORM OVER FUNCTION KILLS YOUR SITE

Never put form over function. Why? Because it’s crucial that visitors actually be able to USE your site. Everything you do must be designed to be as easy for the visitor to understand as possible. Everything should be functional first.

If you put form before function, you sacrifice your visitor’s best interest for your own preferences. By definition, putting form over function means you sacrifice function–you make it harder to perform whatever task is supposed to be performed. You give up ease of use or simplicity in order to make it look nicer. Basically, you wind up with a lot of icing and no cake.

Choosing a Domain Name

The importance of having your own domain name cannot be over- emphasized. If you are running an online business, and don’t yet have a domain name, you are probably losing thousands of dollars worth of business because of this. Why? Simply because, unless you have a domain name, your customers will simply not feel comfortable buying from you. In order to sell on the web, you need to build up your credibility. Having your own domain name is the first step in that process.

Choosing a host

So you spent a couple months developing a really great site with pages and pages of excellent content, all you have to do now is choose which company you want to host with.

Beware, choosing one is usually not an easy process, if the decision you make is not the right one, all your hard work and promotion money will be wasted.

This article will go through first what a host actually is and then go through the features and qualities most good hosts have.

Well then what is a host? A host is a hosting company that rents you space on their server for you to store your webpages and files on. There are thousands of them on the Internet and they all differ somewhat between pricing, features, customer service etc.

Choosing your Affiliate Salary

Before joining any affiliate program you should consider the price of the product and the commissions you’ll get on each action or sale. To sell anything effectively you’ll need to put in some effort. It’s OK getting paid peanuts for click throughs on links if you have redundant space and your only effort is actually putting them up. After all it’s tough out there and every little helps, right?
