Popular video streaming site Justin.tv has launched a new Facebook app that allows users to watch live video right from Facebook. The app is simply called "Live."
This is not the first Facebook app to do this, but this one is free for anyone to use and does not require any registration or approval.
On Thursday, the Recording Industry Association of America will confront yet another university student in court over file sharing allegations. This time, though, the RIAA may have to do so in front of an unfriendly audience, as U.S. District Judge Nancy Gertner has agreed to allow live online coverage of the hearing.
The RIAA says it is abandoning new lawsuits against file sharers. but existing court actions are moving forward. Thanks to a team of Harvard law students, one of these trials will be shared with the world in an unprecedent fashion. A Massachusetts District Court judge has granted the request of a Harvard Law legal team authorizing internet broadcast coverage of a case brought by the RIAA.
The current FCC is using its numbered days to petition the Supreme Court to uphold its authority over fleeting material in broadcast programming. If Chairman Kevin Martin & Co. fail to get a sympathetic ear from the highest court, the fat lady could be singing one foul tune as failed regulators exit stage right, and that might be a good thing.
You may have noticed a newer feature on YouTube, right at the top of the homepage, called "Videos being watched right now…." If you were checking out that feature around 11:00 this morning, you would have noticed people were watching porn.
CBS Digital Media plans to make their news anchor an omnipresent figure by simulcasting her evening news show online and over-the-air.

The Center for Media Research published a brief on Friday detailing the metrics for online broadcast media advertising, audience and ads. The information covers what sites are being visited, who’s going on there, who the top advertisers are, the ad sizes and the ad formats. Also notice that MSN, AOL and Yahoo are all in the list.
The broadcasting lobby addressed the Senate and said it would accept a firm changeover date of January 1, 2009.
