Cloud Computing Services To Reach $42 Billion
Over the next five years spending on IT cloud services is expected to grow nearly threefold, reaching $42 billion by 2012 and accounting for 9 percent of revenues in five key market segments, according to a survey from IDC.Spending on cloud computing is on track to accelerate during the forecast period, capturing 25 percent of IT spending growth in 2012 and close to a third in 2013.

Microsoft Approved for $40 Billion Share Repurchase
Microsoft’s board of directors has approved a share buyback for Microsoft to the tune of $40 billion, with an expiration date of September 30, 2013.The board also declared a quarterly dividend of $0.13 per share, reflecting a two cent or 18 percent increase over the previous quarter’s dividend. Said dividend is payable December 11, 2008 to shareholders of record on November 20, 2008. The ex-dividend date will be November 18, 2008.

Wireless Revenue Reaches $14.8 Billion
Wireless data service revenues for the first half of 2008 reached $14.8 billion, a 40 percent increase over the first half of 2007, when data revenue totaled $10.5 billion, according to the CTIA-The Wireless Association latest survey.
Wireless data revenues now account for 20 percent of all wireless service revenues, and represent money that people spend on non-voice services.

Google Grabs 1 Billion Searches In India
Google sites received the majority of searches conducted in India according to a study of the online search market from comScore.Google sites in India had more than 1 billion searches conducted in June, representing 81 percent of the market. Yahoo sites ranked a distant second with 117 million searches accounting for 9.4 percent. Ask Network landed in the third spot with 24 million searches representing 1.9 percent of the market.
