Advertisers Gear Up For Super Bowl

It’s that time of year again when America unites around the TV, rejoices in capitalism, and stuffs itself silly with food it shouldn’t eat. Ah, the Super Bowl. Preparations are being made, and the Internet is a huge playing a huge part.

The Super Bowl’s a marketer’s dream because it’s one of the few times a year people welcome advertisers into their homes—so long as they’re entertaining. According to comScore, about a quarter of Super Bowl viewers say they prefer the ads to the game.

eMarketer: UK Social Networks Attractive To Advertisers

Indicators that times are tough shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, and a new report from eMarketer suggests that some advertisers will respond by making cutbacks.  The research and analysis company took a close look at a few social networks, though, and believes advertisers in the UK won’t turn their backs on them too much.

Google Opens Advertisers Up to Walker Texas Ranger

Google TV Ads opens up AdWords user accounts to real television advertising opportunities, and the list of channels available through this program continues to grow. So far Google already had six networks from NBC Universal including Sci Fi, Oxygen, MSNBC, CNBC, Sleuth, and Chiller, as well as  Bloomberg Television and 96 networks through DISH Network.

Google Actively Seeking Testimonials From Advertisers?

Search Giant Google is apparently doing a little searching of its own – for support of it’s proposed advertising deal with Yahoo that is. TechCrunch tells about one of their readers (who advertises with both Google and Yahoo) getting a call from a lawyer representing Google and asking them to provide a public testimonial as to why they think the Google-Yahoo deal would be a good idea.

A new YouTube channel shows not only how the site itself can better compete in the online video industry, but also serves as an example of how other businesses can layout engaging video blogs.Google is producing more original content for YouTube following the success of the hit "Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Comedy", which was exclusive to the video site. They started running a channel/show called Poptub last month, but it has not received much attention until now.

MySpace Reveals Advertisers for MySpace Music

In my write-up about the upcoming MySpace Music the other day, I had to leave a question mark in the "advertisers" section, because it was unknown who would be advertising as MySpace Music launched. Rumor has it that MySpace Music will launch on Thursday the 18th, and MySpace has now let the advertising cats out of the bag.
