Yahoo Masters Beta; Puts Toolbar To Firefox Users

Yahoo Toolbar 1.0 is fully functional with a number of features similar to the toolbars from the past, this time customized for the Firefox experience.

Folks already familiar with the way Yahoo handled their toolbar in the past, will see a lot of features they know and love. Yahoo has included a lot of their recently added features like My Web and Anti-Spy, to both the original toolbar and the Firefox version. It has lots of customizable features as well including bookmarks for any computer, new mail notification, RSS feeds for the My Yahoo! page and a search box. They’ve tweaked all this stuff further too so it will be a much smoother experience.

The Anti-Spy button is hideable. More RSS/Atom feeds through the Live Bookmarks and right mouse clicking to open bookmarks and toolbar buttons in new windows or tabs. The toolbar will also handle new loads from Firefox as they develop new releases of their browser.

This makes a sizeable insertion into the Firefox market, particularly since the market share continues to mount consistently month after month. Firefox has grown to over 75 million downloads from around the world, so much so that Yahoo has included different languages to handle their toolbar in other countries including Chinese, French and German.

Yahoo’s original toolbar has been around for sometime now. They launched the beta for the Firefox tool back in February. A lot of other companies have released toolbars, including Google and MSN. Yahoo was the first of the major search/portal companies to offer the toolbar and they seem to have picked up a lot of popularity.

Yahoo also said you have the ability to customer your Avatars in Firefox and search your Thunderbird email using Yahoo Desktop Search. All these features combine to make Yahoo’s putting the Toolbar 1.0 to the finicky Firefox user a slick move.
