What has happened to your inspiration and excitement for growing and developing your business? Is there a strong urge every single day or are there times when you feel frustrated? Most business owners are likely to feel frustrated at times and this may come from many different sources. Perhaps there are times when you lack the necessary information, the ideas aren’t flowing or you’ve got too bogged down in the detail. But what about the times when you’ve got lots of ideas and useful information, yet still feel frustrated with your lack of progress? In some respects this seems worse because you have so much right at your fingertips.
I woke up this morning feeling frustrated again and wondering what had happened to the excitement I’d felt for growing and developing my business. I’d returned from an absolutely brilliant seminar, my mind brimming with ideas and information. I’d got really carried away while I was there, thinking about all I wanted to do and I was determined to put it all into action. I knew I was working really hard and felt totally committed to following it all through. As the frustration set in I started to work even harder. There was so much to understand and I wanted to understand it all – now! I was losing patience and it felt like a roller coaster with excitement at the possibilities, yet frustration because it wasn’t happening quickly enough. USP’s, strategic objectives, referral generators, were the words were buzzing around in my mind. If only I could understand it all and piece it together now, I could really move forward. But it just wasn’t happening, until I heard my own little voice saying.
“Wake up, you’ve slipped back into your old mindset of working hard and trying to make things happen.”
I was struggling again and I was surprised how easy it was to slip back. The only good thing is that I don’t stay in the ‘work hard and make it happen’ mindset as long as I used to. It definitely used to be the norm for me. Now that I’ve experienced how much more productive, relaxing and beneficial it is to work smarter and leave the struggle behind, that’s where I prefer to be. Laughing at myself kindly, I knew I was struggling and needed to move away from it. I needed to get back among the chaos of all the information, letting it unfold naturally and taking the next inspired action.
This gave me the opportunity to see that I needed to gain some clarity. The clarity certainly wasn’t coming from trying to think it all through and then making it happen. That way I lost clarity. Instead, I needed to take action. Even if the next inspired step isn’t a logical one, it can start to give you the clarity you lack. You may start working on one part but as you progress, realise there’s another part to be tackled first.
Clarity comes from inspired action and inspired action brings clarity. I started to get clarity as I worked on the next action and it all started to unfold again naturally. The struggle was over and I was much more productive again. I invite you to stop thinking about things too much. Take inspired action instead and allow the clarity to unfold.
