Acquisition Establishes Digital Evolution As Only Company To Offer Complete Solution For SOA Security, Management and Provisioning.
Digital Evolution today announced the acquisition of Flamenco Networks, a leading provider of specialized network infrastructure to enterprises that are implementing secure, service oriented architectures. Only weeks after announcing a $15 million Series C Round of funding, the acquisition of Flamenco Networks propels Digital Evolution ahead of all other competitors in breadth and maturity of SOA product offerings and customer base.
“The consolidation among Web Services solution providers continues,” said Frank Kenney, Gartner analyst. “Companies will either procure and deploy complete suites (management, security, development and integration functionality are combined), or best of breed ones from individual vendors. Because the deployment of a Web service can be the result of some business initiative with its own inherent risks and complications, a process of governance must provide a closed loop environment that enables change in response to new information.”
Flamenco Networks is an Atlanta, Georgia-based company that provides specialized network infrastructure to enterprises that are implementing secure, service oriented architectures based on the SOAP communications protocol. Part of the broader Web Services Management category, Flamenco’s technology allows IT network and security operations to enforce enterprise security policies, automate the provisioning of access, enable trading partner self-service and control qualities of service (QOS). The addition of Flamenco’s technology to Digital Evolution’s Identity-Based Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Management platform, and its flagship product, the Digital Evolution Service Manager, gives Digital Evolution the broadest, deepest and most complete product offering and firmly establishes Digital Evolution as the leader in SOA security and management fabric software and solutions. The acquisition of Flamenco Networks also brings a sophisticated hosted and managed network service located in an IBM data center allowing Digital Evolution to offer hosted and product versions to its customers.
“We believe that this acquisition puts us in a category well ahead of the competition and is clear evidence of our intent to consolidate our leadership position in the field of SOA Security and Management Software,” said Paul Gigg, Digital Evolution President and CEO. “The addition of Flamenco Networks’ technology strengthens the Digital Evolution product portfolio and allows us to offer the most comprehensive Web Services security and management solution available for enterprises today.”
Effective immediately, all Flamenco Networks products and solutions are part of the Digital Evolution suite of products. Digital Evolution will maintain offices in Atlanta, Georgia and current product research and development will continue as planned. Customers and partners of Flamenco Networks will now join the growing roster of Digital Evolution customers that include Global 2000 companies such as Farmer’s Insurance, Mercury Insurance, Nissan North America and Zenith Insurance.
