Original article 03/05: The number one video site in the US and the world’s largest music label are said to be cooking up a deal and a new service. YouTube and Universal Music Group are reportedly in talks to create a premium online music video service.
Last month, reports came out indicating that Google might have to make YouTube users in South Korea confirm their real identities if they wanted to upload or comment on content. There is a law in that country that went into effect on April 1st, that requires users to provide their ID numbers and would require Google to turn over information to the South Korean government when asked.
There are some big changes happening with YouTube. You’ve probably read recently that YouTube has teamed up with Universal on a site called Vevo that is supposedly going to be the Hulu of music videos.
In February, nearly 74 percent of Japan’s online population visited an entertainment site, according to a new study from comScore.
Japanese Internet users spent nearly 15 percent of their total online time during the month on these sites, making the entertainment category one of the most popular and engaging content categories.

Credit Suisse analysts may have to revisit their estimate that YouTube will lose $470 million this year. The site has rolled out its Click-to-Buy program – which is intended to result in quite a lot of revenue-sharing – in eight new countries.
The Library of Congress sounds like an old, creaky thing, and sure enough, it was established in 1800. But today, the Library continued a Web 2.0 push by making about 75 video clips available for viewing on YouTube.
