YouTube Shows You How Viewers Interact with Your Videos

YouTube contacted Murdok this afternoon to tell us about a new analytics feature it has just launched for YouTube Insight. A spokesperson tells me the feature gets more into engagement metrics than YouTube Insight has in the past.

Until now, YouTube Insight has only dealt with information related to views. With this launch it  "will give uploaders information on how viewers interact with their videos," she says.

YouTube Attracts 100 Million U.S. Viewers

Online video continues to make gains in the U.S. with Internet users viewing 14.8 billion videos during the month of January, representing an increase of 4 percent over December, according to comScore.
YouTube was the most popular property, accounting for 91 percent of the incremental gain in the number of videos viewed versus December, as it exceeded 100 million viewers for the first time.

YouTube Grabs 100 Million Video Viewers

U.S. Internet users watched 13.5 billion online videos during October, marking a 45 percent increase compared to a year ago, according to comScore Video Metrix.In October, Google sites once again dominated, ranking as the top U.S. video property with 5.3 billion videos viewed (representing a 40 percent share of all video viewed) with YouTube accounting for more than 98 percent of all videos viewed at the property.

Online Video Viewers More Engaged

A large number of online video viewers are more engaged with what they watch on the Web than they are with TV, according to a new study from online video site Veoh Networks.Veoh found that what it calls " engaged viewers" (those who watch more than an hour of online video a week) make up nearly 40 percent of all online video viewers and watch close to 75 percent of all online video.

More TV Viewers Watching Online Videos

More television viewers are going online to watch videos, films and TV episodes according to a new poll from Harris Interactive.YouTube has expanded its lead as a site for online video viewing, while search engines and TV network sites are holding their own. Online video viewership has increased overall in the past year (81% versus 74%). Approximately 65 percent of the 2,455 U.S. adults surveyed say they have watched a video on YouTube, compared to 42 percent during the same time last year.

Online Viewers Prefer Professional Video Content

Sixty-five percent of people who watch video on their computers, mobile devices or digital media players are watching professionally-produced TV programming, including network-and cable-produced shows, news and sports, according to ChoiceStream’s 2007 Survey of Viewer Trends in TV & Online Video.That number surpasses the 39 percent of people watching user-generated video by 67 percent and is expected to increase over the next six months as traditional TV viewers begin to shift their viewing habits towards other devices.
