Google Courting More Students With Email

Google’s serious about creating relationships with the greater Academia – its founders were collegiate all-stars building printers out of Legos, and of course badly-named search engines (Google was once called BackRub, we imagine because that was Larry Page’s best pickup line) – ahem, as more and more universities turn their email systems over to the search engine company.

RIAA Targets Michigan Students, Draws NPR Ire

Privacy is a hot word around the blogosphere today; Google is protecting it and the RIAA is employing every trick in their playbook to circumvent a user’s right to privacy by pressuring ISPs and Universities to voluntarily hand over identifying information pertaining to users who are allegedly violating copyright law by sharing digital music over the school’s network.

AOL And Students Go Exploring

AOL has partnered for a second time with Quest Network’s Blue Zones to allow kids to explore the longest living people in Costa Rica. The first expedition explored the healthy lifestyles of people living in Okinawa, Japan. KOL, AOL’s kids service will be involved in KOL Blue Zones Expedition an educational project that will allow students to participate in directing a team of scientists, explorers and journalists as they explore places where people live the longest.
