Security firm F-Secure discovered that Twitter has begun blocking links to malicious sites when users try to post them. Twitter has not acknowledged this with an announcement yet, but users (at least some) are getting the following message when trying to post a link to a known malware site:
"Oops! Your tweet contained a URL to a known malware site!"
Facebook announced today that it has taken additional measures to help users whose accounts have been hacked or used to send spam.
The company says the vast majority of its users have never experienced a security problem but it wants to give members new ways to take back control of their accounts if it does happen.
There has been more than one story in the news recently about Twitter accounts being hijacked. The most recent examples of note include the accounts of Britney Spears and famed blogger/entrepreneur Guy Kawasaki. These issues have highlighted some potential dangers of using the service, or really social networks in general.
Earlier today some confidential documents from Twitter began floating around the blogosphere. It appears the documents were obtained via a hacked employee Google account from several months ago.

The economy has not played a significant roll in the way people shop online, according to a new study released by McAfee and conducted by Harris Interactive.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced that it has selected security expert Rod Beckstrom as its new president and CEO. The announcement took place at ICANN’s 35th international meeting in Sydney, Australia.
"The importance of the Internet as a free flowing source of information is being underscored right now by the events in Iran," said Beckstrom. "It shows the power of human expression through a free and open Net."
Twitter recently released a product called "Sign in with Twitter," which is basically the social network’s answer to Facebook Connect, Google Friend Connect, etc.
