There are two kinds of marketing (at least as far as most of us are concerned): Active and Passive.
Tips for Making Your Pages Search Engine Friendly
Your web site may look beautiful to your eyes, but what about to the “eyes” of a search engine? If you can understand how a search engine “sees” your site, than you can design the site or make the necessary changes so that your site will get a higher ranking in search results.
Monitoring Your Search Engine Positions – Five Tips
Increasing numbers of companies are recognizing the importance of high search engine rankings as part of their overall marketing strategy. Unfortunately, many do not recognize that search engine marketing is an ongoing process, rather than a one-time “quick fix”. Protecting high rankings, once attained, is critical to the ongoing success of any search engine marketing initiative. It is also important to approach your monitoring efforts with a solid strategy and a proper mindset. The following five tips can help.
Adswapping your business into the Search Engines
You have established your business on the world wide web. You write up your plan of action, your business plan, your short term goals, your long term goals and your “skies the limit” long term goals. You create your niche market and the theme of your business.

Let Other Sites Improve Your Search Engine Ranking
Getting listed on the first three pages of search engine listings is a goal for many business web sites. It’s also difficult to achieve, which explains why an entire industry has recently sprung up devoted to improving web site rankings.
If you elect to work on it yourself, there are three main ways to improve your web site’s ranking:

Question:
“So, you have to pay for inclusion before you bid for placement? Is this what I understand?”
Adam:
“They are two separate programs. The paid inclusion relates to FAST and the Web index. The paid placement relates to the three ad panels that display on Lycos Search.”
Search Engine Musical Chairs
News broke this week that Yahoo has purchased the Inktomi search engine for around US$235 million. This is an interesting development in the search engine industry that may impact greatly on exactly where sites get their traffic from. Another new development in the past few weeks is the change to the HotBot service but first, I’d like to look at the ramifications of the Yahoo/Inktomi deal.
