Usability Reviews Verify Good Work

While on a plane heading home from a conference I happened to meet the mother of a Human Factors employee for a well-known global Internet software company. As we chatted, she noted that when I spoke of my work, she could tell I wasn’t the critical type.
She’s a human behavior specialist. In her practice, she helps people who have suffered trauma. There’s a way that you listen. A way you offer support. I realized she was paying me a huge compliment if she noticed something about me and how I conveyed bad news to my clients.

The Power Of (Real) User Reviews

Murdok recently introduced a “Comments” section at the tail of each article, and it’s been great to hear from our readers.  It’s also been fun to converse with company reps.  But every so often, there comes a comment – usually from an anonymous individual – that is just a little too biased, and perhaps a little too informed, to be believable.  This is bad.

Manufacturers and Product Reviews

Last year I talked about the Three R’s of Web Marketing, to be real, relevant, and responsive. But the truth is that being real is challenging. Let’s take a real-life example—do you expect product manufacturers to post product reviews?

We’ve all seen customer-posted product ratings and reviews on retail Web sites. Amazon’s got ’em. Shopping comparison engines do, too. And customers love to read them.
