How many times have you wondered why everyone else seems to get the breaks in life and none seem to come your way. You work and struggle to make ends meet while others apparently effortlessly cruise through life. This was a question I asked myself before I realized that they were no different than me. It all came down to the way you think and your ability to take specific actions to make things happen.

Calculating Billable Hours Myth Vs. Reality

The first step in calculating your billable hours is to define a realistic working year. If you were employed elsewhere, you would expect or want at least two weeks vacation time, one week sick time, one week personal time and paid holidays. So, where does that leave us – 52 weeks minus four weeks leaves 48 weeks minus about 10 paid holidays, or a total of approximately 46 weeks per year.

Quality Process Overhead – Myth or Reality?

Let us take a real-life example.

The AC in a car is an overhead. It eats into the petrol that is used to run the car. However the benefits and pleasure that the owner of the car derives from the AC far outweighs the additional expenditure in his perspective. His wife may still scold him that AC need not be switched on in the car during the evenings

. Thus an overhead is mostly a matter of perception.
