Don’t Hoard Your Google PageRank
If you’ve been using JavaScripts on outbound links from your webpages in an effort to preserve your PageRank you should quit – for two reasons.
High PageRank Links
We all know that incoming links are an important part of any search engine placement strategy. Exchanging reciprocal links is one of the easiest ways to attain links to your website from other webmasters and there are many sites out there willing to exchange links with you. That said, not all of them are valuable links that will benefit you – so where do you find them?
PageRank = High Rankings?
The confusion still weaves its way slowly around the Internet about Google’s PageRank and exactly how it affects your website. Many people are under the belief, that a high PageRank will give you high rankings for your website. You couldn’t be further from the truth in actual fact. Google PageRank 101
PageRank is Google’s proprietary system for ranking web pages according to importance. Elevating PageRank and Choosing a Keyword Focus
Dear Ross,
I’m still not too clear on this whole PageRank thing that Google does. From what I can gather, the incoming links have no weight in the PageRank, only links leaving my site and going to other sites (so competitors can’t lower your PageRank by linking to you with low-ranked sites). So, all I have to do is find all the highly ranked pages out there, and link to them? Or do they have to be in the same general category as my site? What’s to stop me from creating several sites at several different domains, each under a slightly different yet overlapping category, and linking to the top PageRanked sites (to give my sites high PageRanks), then linking each of my sites together to get even higher PageRanks?
