More Men Find Happiness Online
Men find they are happiest when they are surfing the Web and women are happiest spending time with their families, according to a new Australian study on what makes people happy.The "Happiness Index" study, polled more than 8,500 Australians between the ages of 18-64 and found that rest and relaxation were the most pleasing activities, while physical exercise was the least likely to make people happy.
Online Threats Concerning More Americans
Internet users are becoming increasingly concerned about online threats such as viruses, spam and identity theft, according to survey by the American Consumer Institute.Consumers also report significant worry that their privacy might be invaded by programs that track and record which Internet sites they visit.The majority (74%) of those surveyed said they were "very concerned," about identity theft, compared to 68 percent who indicated great worry about identity theft in a similar ACI survey from 2006.

The number of people watching online video through a browser has doubled over the past year, going from 32 percent a year a go to 63 percent today, according to a new ABI Research study.ABI says the growth is due to the amount of rich content available in ad-supported format on portals and via social networks, along with increasing demand from people for video in both short-and long-form online content.

Lee Newspapers Sees Jump In Readership And Online Use
Lee Enterprises, newspaper publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and a number of smaller papers across the United States says the reach of its papers and online sites among young adults has grown from 54 to 64 percent over the last year.The findings are from a comprehensive audience study by Wilkerson & Associates in Lee’s 10 largest markets. It measured the seven-day reach of newspapers and their online sites from January to June in 2007 and 2008.

The majority of Americans are concerned about what is being done with their personal information online according to a new poll from Consumer Reports.The poll found that 82 percent of people are concerned about their credit card numbers being stolen online, while 72 percent are concerned that their online activity is being tracked and profiled by companies.

Kentucky Governor Cracks Down On Online Gambling
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has announced he wants to shut down 141 illegal Internet gambling sites in the state in an effort to stop unregulated online gaming.Beshear has filed a civil suit against the 141 domain names and is asking the court to force the sites to block access to Kentucky users or give up control of their domain names.
