NBC understands that the future of television may have less to do with TV’s. As a result, the company has made a move into the mobile ad space by investing in the mobile ad network Greystripe. The funding is said to have been made to assist the sales team headquartered in New York in selling more ads across the 1,000 mobile apps and games on over 1,400 devices that Greystripe can provide.

The majority of social networking users are vulnerable to online security problems with less than one third taking actions to protect themselves, according to a new survey by AVG and the CMO Council.

Toshiba Launches Social Network for Employees
Toshiba announced today it is launching a social business network called eXCHANGE, aimed at connecting its sales, service, administrative and corporate employees in the U.S.
Toshiba says eXCHANGE is similar to other social networks, such as Facebook, LinkedIN or MySpace and it will offer members an online forum to share and seek information, including best sales practices, user generated information and product tips.
CareerBuilder Launches Social Network
CareerBuilder has announced it has launched BrightFuse.com a social networking site geared towards professionals.
To clarify CareerBuilder originally launched BrightFuse in February 2008, but in its announcement it does not mention this detail. Murdok contacted CareerBuilder for a comment but did not receive a response before publication.
Google’s Latest Move as a Social Network
Last week, Google introduced social gadgets for iGoogle in Australia. Today they have made them available in the US. Well, they’ll be gradually rolling out starting today, anyway.

AT&T To Roll Out Faster 3G Network
AT&T said today it would upgrade its 3G network to offer considerably faster mobile broadband speeds. The network upgrades will begin later this year and be completed in 2011.
AT&T said it would expand its 3G mobile broadband network from 350 metropolitan areas to about 370 by the end of 2009. The expansion will be covered by its previously announced capital expenditure budget of $17 billion to $18 billion for the year.

Social Network Users Seek Relevant Ads
Close to a third (31%) of social networking users dislike constant requests to join groups and download applications, according to new research from the Internet Advertising Bureau.
However, the study of nearly 2000 Internet users found that 28 percent of people would be happy to join a group if they were offered exclusive content or something relevant and free, while 37 percent would join a group if there is a genuine interest in what is being offered.
