Global Search Market Grows Tremendously YOY
comScore has released some new numbers for the global search market. The highlight of the findings is that the market draws over 100 billion searches per month.
To be more specific, over 113 billion searches were conducted in July. This is a whopping 41% increase from a year ago. Obviously, Google sites received the bulk of these searches.
App Store Gets Twice the Downloads of Android Market
New findings from AdMob indicate that twice as many paid apps are downloaded per user on Apple App Store compared to the Android Market. This information comes from AdMob’s Metrics Report for the month of July.
Mobile Market Sees Positive Growth
Worldwide shipments of cell phones in the second quarter increased 4.7 percent compared to the first, according to a report from iSuppli.
The growth marked the first successive increase for the market since the third quarter of 2008. Global shipments reached 265 million units in the second quarter, up from 253 million in the first.
Mobile Market Improves In 2Q
The global mobile phone market saw another quarter of year-over-year decline in the second quarter of 2009, shipping a total of 269.6 million units, down 10.8 percent from 302.2 million units in 2Q08, according to IDC.
The second quarter results are an improvement from the 17.2 percent decrease in the first quarter, but challenges from the economic crisis remain a factor to watch.

PC Market To See Positive Growth In Q4
Global PC shipments are on track to reach 274 million units in 2009, a 6 percent decrease from 2008 shipments of 292 million, according to Gartner.
Despite the overall decline, Gartner now expects the PC market to post positive growth in the fourth quarter of 2009, setting the stage for a solid market recovery in 2010 with a forecast of growth of 10.3 percent.
Comparing Smartphone Market Share by Operating System
AdMob has released its Mobile Metrics report for April, which compares market share of smartphones by operating system to market share of mobile web and application usage. The report also compares smartphone browsing of mobile web sites to smartphone browsing of HTML sites.
The firm determined that smartphones accounted for nearly 3 times more usage than their relative market share. With regards to usage of mobile sites and HTML sites on mobile devices, AdMob found relative usage of both to be highest on Apple and Android devices.
Web Analytics Market to Reach Nearly $1 Billion in US
Research from Forrester indicates that the US Web Analytics Market is on track to reach nearly a billion dollars by 2014. Forrester attributes this to a need for marketing organizations to be more accountable to businesses.
Also at play is a shift in marketing budgets’ allocation for interactive channels, for the purpose of matching consumers’ migration online, the firm notes. The market is expected to grow to $953 million by 2014, which would be a 17% compound annual growth rate.
