UPS announced today it is launching an online printing service aimed at small businesses.
"After reviewing the research and listening to our small-business customers, we realized there is a real need in the marketplace for an online printing platform that is easy to use, provides functionality geared to small businesses, and is supported by a convenient network of physical locations," said Stuart Mathis, president of Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. (MBE), franchisor of The UPS Store brand.
Yahoo Launches New Contacts API
Yahoo has launched a new Contacts API, which uses OAuth. With the API, applications can allow users to read, write, and sync access to their Yahoo Address Book, which is one of the biggest address books on the web.
"We’ve completely reengineered the existing Contacts API and added more useful functionality for developers," says Yahoo Social Platforms Product Manager Shirish Anand.
MTV Launches New Online Video Ad Unit
Target and MTV Networks have partnered to launch a new online video ad unit called "The Scrubber."
The Scrubber is a custom video player that allows advertisers to insert product icons into the playback timer and highlight various items as the video plays. The unit is designed to be interactive, relevant and non-interruptive to the user.
Toshiba Launches Social Network for Employees
Toshiba announced today it is launching a social business network called eXCHANGE, aimed at connecting its sales, service, administrative and corporate employees in the U.S.
Toshiba says eXCHANGE is similar to other social networks, such as Facebook, LinkedIN or MySpace and it will offer members an online forum to share and seek information, including best sales practices, user generated information and product tips.
MapQuest Launches Missing Children Widget
AOL’s MapQuest has partnered with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to launch a new widget on MapQuest Local that includes missing child alerts and information from NCMEC.
CareerBuilder Launches Social Network
CareerBuilder has announced it has launched BrightFuse.com a social networking site geared towards professionals.
To clarify CareerBuilder originally launched BrightFuse in February 2008, but in its announcement it does not mention this detail. Murdok contacted CareerBuilder for a comment but did not receive a response before publication.

Today Google announced two new tools for Enterprise Search – Side-By-Side search comparison and new connectors for the Google Search Appliance. Both of these features are available in Google Enterprise Labs.

International police organization INTERPOL announced today it has launched a website featuring a database of global stolen artwork.
The move is part of the agency’s effort to combat the illicit trade of stolen artwork.
