Google is sharing some interesting statistics on malware, such as the number of entries on the Google Safe Browsing Malware List that have occurred over the last twelve months, and search results containing a URL labeled as harmful.
"We’re glad to share this sort of data because we believe that collaboration and information sharing are crucial in driving anti-malware efforts forward," says Niels Provos of Google’s Security Team.
It’s been eight months since TechCrunch announced that they would no longer honor embargoes, with several other sites jumping on that bandwagon in the interim. One of the issues here was undermining the credibility of the blogosphere at large. As Trisha Lyn Fawver put it,
A new dictionary site called Wordnik was launched today, although even the creators had to settle for the "dictionary" description for lack of a better word. I would call it some kind of a definition search engine. It was founded by lexicographer Erin McKean.
Not that this is an uncommon phenomenon these days, but there are quite a few Twitter-related news items floating around. I’d like to share some quick notes about five of them.
1. Twitter has surpassed the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal in traffic. This is particularly fascinating given the whole state of the news industry.

Are people waking up to the idea that exercise is the best way to lose weight? Maybe. Traditionally, Internet searches for burning off those holiday pounds spike the first week of the year. But this year, according to Hitwise, there’s been an increase in gym interest and a decline in search queries involving the keyword “diet.”
