How Important is the Homepage?

Seth Godin, on his blog, wrote "Do you really need a home page? Does the web respect it?".

Here is what he wrote:

Human beings don’t have home pages. People make judgments about you in a thousand different ways. By what they hear from others, by the way they experience you, and on and on. Companies may have a website, but they don’t have a home page in terms of the way people experience them.

The Most Important SEO Skill

Lee Odden posted an interesting poll today asking the question what type of SEO skill is most important. I think the best answer to the question really is the ability to gain expertise in a variety of the skills Lee listed. Lee himself says the best answer to the question should probably start with “It depends on the situation.” Still I voted for one and thought I’d share some thoughts on why I voted the way I did here.

Display Ads Remain Important To Marketers

According to new data from TNS Media Intelligence, Internet phone company Vonage spent over $185 million on display ads in 2006, outspending competitors Verizon Communications and display ad giant Netflix.
The budget share for display and classified ads will remain unchanged through 2011, with paid search gaining ground and rich media along with video increasing according to eMarketer senior analyst David Hallerman.

Internet Important To American Voters

The number of Americans who used the Internet as their main source of news about the 2006 mid-term election slightly more than doubled over the 2002 mid-term election. A new report by the Pew Internet and American Life Project called “Election 2006 Online” said that 15 percent of Americans used the Internet as their primary source of information about the 2006 election. That was an 8 percent increase since 2002.
