There’s nothing quite like a stretch of wide-open road, but a clogged, backed-up highway doesn’t elicit the same feelings. Somebody in Mountain View apparently realized this – or felt the need to catch up with the competition – and Google Maps now has an “avoid highways” option.

An organization that reports news is now making it – Reuters, which actually earns most of its money through dealings in the financial market, plans to acquire ClearForest, “a provider of text-driven intelligence solutions.”
Toshiba Accelerates to 45GB on the DVD Highway
Toshiba announced recently they were adding a third layer to its HD-DVD format to increase the capacity to 45Gb. This is going to give them a much stronger competitor against Sony and perhaps give them some more bargaining room as Sony and Toshiba continue negotiations to develop a universal standard for DVDs based on the blue laser technology upgrades.
