Health Information Sites See Rapid Growth

Online health information sites have grown 21 percent as a category in the past year, more than four times the growth rate of the entire U.S. Internet population according to a new study from comScore.WebMD Health continues to be in the top position of the category with 17.3 million visitors in July, up three percent over a year ago. Three other health networks increased the overall growth of the category, each pulling in more than ten million visitors.

Pregnancy Most Searched Health Condition In February

The terms "pregnancy" and "cancer" were the two most frequently searched health conditions in February, receiving 8.8 million and 7.7 million search queries respectively according to comScore.Other health conditions that were frequently searched in February include "flu" (1.8 million), depression also (1.8 million), followed by diabetes (1.7 million) and addiction (1.4 million).

Are Health Blogs Bad For You?

There was a time when certain professionals, such as doctors and lawyers, did not advertise in a general way. In some arenas, advertising was looked down upon and considered to be below the standard. In others, particularly the law, advertising specific services was illegal. Once the ban on television advertisements was lifted, there were some lawyers who ventured forth to test the waters. Naturally, they were shunned by peers, relegated to the same category as ambulance chasers. That is, until the peers saw how the advertisements paid off in a very big way.
