Google Aims to Square Away Relevancy
At Google’s Searchology event today, the company discussed a new feature coming soon to Google Labs. It’s called Google Squared and will apparently pull unstructured data right from the web and put it into spreadsheets.

Google Takes the Next Step in Personalized Search
Google’s Searchology event was today, and Google used this to give kind of a "state of search" presentation, something the company often does in a variety of formats.

But what about trademark applications? That’s a bit more expensive and serious method of protecting certain names.
A quick search through trademark applications at the USPTO’s website brings back about 60 Google-related attempts at trademarking, many from Google and (surprisingly) many not from Google.

"Should you get a verified name? Right now, it doesn’t influence whether your profile will rank better in profile results," says Danny Sullivan at Search Engine Land. "But if you’re trying to convince people to trust that the page is really controlled by you, it probably makes sense."
Google Offers Money, Fame To Young Artists
Courtesy of Google, quite a few artistically inclined young people are going to have a great summer. The search giant has announced a new phase in its annual Doodle 4 Google competition, and it’s also started a Google Photography Prize contest.
