Facebook Most Popular Social Site In Australia

More than 70 percent of Internet users in Australia visited a social networking site in June, up 29 percent from the previous year, according to a new study from comScore.
"Social networking continues to grow in popularity both across Australia and throughout the world," said Will Hodgman, comScore executive vice president for the Asia-Pacific region.

Facebook Lite Sparks Mixed Reactions

Depending on who you listen to the Facebook Lite offering that was inadvertently sent to many Facebook users is everything from a direct frontal assault on Twitter to a speed enhancer. Since this product was not even supposed to be released as it was it may not really matter what it really is because it’s not really ready to even ‘be’ quite yet. Facebook Restricts Sponsored Status Updates

You’ve probably heard of the concept of sponsored tweeting. Perez Hilton is making deals to do it. The company Izea, which is known for PayPerPost, is offering such services. Those are for tweets though. To make sure this practice doesn’t break into Facebook, the social network is working on changing its statement of Rights and Responsibilities.

Facebook Attracting Younger Users In The U.K.

The number of 15-24 year olds in the U.K. visiting social networking sites reached 6.8 million in June, up 14 percent compared to the previous year, according to a new report from comScore.
The overall audience of social networkers in this age group is up substantially during the past year, but the time spent on social networking sites is down 9 percent. The overall decrease in time spent on the sites appears to be due to younger users spending less time on secondary social networking sites.
