The holiday shopping season brought increased traffic to a number of categories including retail, shipping and weather sites, according to comScore Media Metrix.Traffic to retail sites grew in December as consumers searched for holiday gifts and discounts. Jewelry/Luxury Goods/Accessories jumped 30 percent to 25 million visitors to rank as the top-gaining category for the month.

comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, has released its monthly comScore qSearch analysis of the search marketplace for December 2007. Among core search engines in December 2007, Google Sites remained the top search property with 5.6 billion core searches conducted, representing a 58.4 percent share of the search market. Online Job Ads Up In December
In December there were 3,541,200 online advertised job vacancies, an increase of 6 percent from last December, according to The Conference Board Help-Wanted Online Data Series.While this number is up from last year, it was down by 13 percent from the November level, partly because of a seasonal pattern, which began with the Thanksgiving holiday. There were 2.3 advertised jobs online for every 100 persons in the labor force in December. The monthly decrease in advertised job vacancies occurred in all 50 states and major metropolitan areas.
