More Blogs & Journalism Discussion
Scott Karp makes a good point in a post about Nick Denton taking the helm at Gawker again (something I also wrote about on earlier). It’s pretty much the same thing I’ve been saying over and over when I talk to companies — including media companies — about blogs and social media. Let me say it again: Blogs are just a publishing system.
YouTube Tackles The Davos Question
I hate to be a cynic, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to help it. It is something, after all, and something unprecedented. The goods: Microsoft adCenter has a new product rolling out next month. A plugin (”Add-in”) for Excel will give marketers access to automatic tools to generate keywords, expand keyword lists, get actual traffic and demographic data—as in real numbers. If you haven’t seen a demo yet, let me tell you: this looks very cool. Here are my notes from Microsoft’s presentation and demo at the Search Insider Summit today.
Feedback for the Virtual Earth Team
The Virtual Earth team wants our feedback. Wonderful. Kudos to any company that wants its customers’ feedback and offers a participatory approach. So, here’s my feedback… Microsoft added a LOT of whizbang features to its maps.live.com maps (3D, lots of photos, and such) but they didn’t focus on the basics.
T-Mobile’s Twitter Blocking
If you don’t understand it, don’t allow it. That could be the thinking behind why mobile operator T-Mobile has begun blocking Twitter usage in the US, and opening up a customer service debacle, not to mention a public relations one.
The Consensus About the Future of Marketing
Is it just me, or is there now a consensus in the world of marketing about the future?
