Search Engine Optimization and Page Templating
Dear Ross
I wonder if you can advise on how I should set up a menu structure (template) for a new site in a way which is optimal for search engine positioning:
A Perfect World… Imbalance Creates Motivation
I am a big proponent of balance. Everything has to be just so. I believe that we should all strive to obtain balance in our lives. Balance between career and family. Balance between public and private. Balance between spiritualism, finances, and materialism.
The First Fold Makes Your Site (Or Breaks It)
Visitors to your site are not looking to make a new friend. They don’t want to chat. And they don’t give a darn what you think about anything, least of all your product. They only want to know:
What’s in it for me?
Why should I believe you?
Why should I buy from you?
The Other Side of Headlines
Since as many as 80% of visitors will never finish even the headline on a page, it’s clear we need to put our best effort into creating them. And the headline on our home page is the one that matters most. Here’s why.
The Gold Is In Repeat Business
The success of most retail businesses depends upon generating repeat business. This is as true online as offline. You need to attract people who come to know and trust you, who are confident your advice is sound.
Ignore PR at Your Peril!
If you do, it means:
1. you don’t value tracking the perceptions of important outside audiences whose behaviors could sink your ship:
Build my Business by Offering Free Stuff? Why?
Do you want a Web site that generates more business? That’s what most of us want. Once I decided to create and manage my own Web site, I began studying how to build a site that would reach out and touch potential clients.
The Make-Break Point: Your USP
Your USP (Universal Selling Proposition) will make or break your business. Let me put this differently. With a great USP, success is nearly assured. Without one, you will be at best, just an also-ran, someone struggling to remain in the race.
Boosting Affiliate Sales On A High Traffic Site
Dan,
Please go to www.thecrayonhouse.com – launched in November 1999. The site enjoys over 75000 visitors per month – as high as 95000 some months. We have won some awards and receive constant positive feed back from our visitors. We are unable to make any affiliate or click through program generate income for the site. It is a cash drain from our main business and we may have to consider closing. Obviously, this would be financially and emotionally disappointing. Any ideas?
Increase Your Traffic by Recovering Your Lost Visitors
If you spend any time surfing the Internet, you’ve probably encountered a few error messages.
Error messages have numerous causes, such as misspellings, outdated links or internal server errors. When an error is encountered, your server will display specific generic error pages according to the error. These error pages are not only dead ends, but they are also very frustrating for your potential visitors.
