Report Reveals Interesting Findings on Web Apps

Wakoopa has been collecting information related to social networks and applications on the web, and they have a new report that reveals some interesting findings.

For one, Twitter continues to grow rapidly. This isn’t news to anyone, but as its growth continued through the entire first quarter, it saw a particularly big jump in March. As far as apps, Tweetdeck ranked first among users who posted updates to Twitter via desktop with Twhirl a close second.

MySpace Expands Executive Roster

As part of the shakeup that ousted co-founder Chris DeWolfe and ushered in former Project Playlist and Facebook’s Owen Van Natta as the new CEO, MySpace has expanded its management team with two key hires. Michael Jones who comes from Userplane and AOL has been named Chief Operating Officer and Jason Hirschhorn joins as Chief Product Officer after a stints at Sling Media and MTV Networks.

McAfee Rolls Out Free Online Cybercrime Site

McAfee has introduced a free online Cybercrime Response Unit aimed at detecting cybercrime and helping users recover from it.
"With physical crime you know right away if your house has been broken into or your car has been stolen, but with cybercrime, it’s not that obvious. Most people don’t even know they’re a victim, and they rarely know what to do next," said McAfee President and Chief Executive Officer Dave DeWalt.
