Google announced today that it has added nine new languages to Google Translate. That brings the total number of languages supported up to 51, as well as 2,550 language pairs, including all 23 official EU languages.
comScore has released some new numbers for the global search market. The highlight of the findings is that the market draws over 100 billion searches per month. To be more specific, over 113 billion searches were conducted in July. This is a whopping 41% increase from a year ago. Obviously, Google sites received the bulk of these searches.
Samsung Electronics announced today it will launch a new app store for its smartphone users on September 14. Over the years, Walmart has been widely criticized in some circles for essentially stamping out small businesses across America with its ever-expanding presence. There have even been documentaries made about this. But that's about the offline world right? Walmart has now introduced "The Walmart Marketplace," a new online initiative, in which it bolsters its inventory by partnering with other online retailers with large inventories themselves.
Of course everyone knows that Americans watch a lot of video. Why not, right? We spend a lot of time online and we like to make excuses to not exercise. It’s the perfect storm for YouTube and Hulu and the rest of the video distribution sites of the world. It is somewhat amazing though to see the numbers attached to it, though.
