Gord: It’s a little more than two weeks ago since Google made the announcement that personalization would become more of a default standard for more users on Google.  Why did you move towards making that call?

Wrong About Google Apps

Sometimes I just get it plain old wrong.

Yesterday’s entry on using Google Apps as a risk management decision, and then to consult your internal legal team.

Then as one reader pointed out, the idea was sound, but then I advocated using Drupal and Linux on any old shared environment. So basically, I advocated against Google Apps, and then said to do the same thing that Google Apps do, which is provide a shared collaborative environment that the company does not control by buying some 5 dollar a month hosting company.

Have a Business Plan for Your Sites

The First Age of The Internet is fast coming to a close, and with that comes the removal of early opportunities and low-hanging fruit.
That means if you have a serious plan for a website, you need to push on getting it out now, and fast.
If you have a website without a business plan, you need to push on getting one drawn up now, and fast.
I’ve been at this conclusion for a while, but the issue of urgency is speeding up.

Hearst and Microsoft Make Print Digital

Newspaper giant Hearst Corporation unveiled its News Reader software, a product born of a partnership with Microsoft. News Reader software debuted in beta at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer as a downloadable application, allowing an on-screen view of Hearst newspapers.

The news comes in the wake of growing concern for the future of print media as online content becomes more prevalent and preferred.
