4 Steps to Writing a Powerful E-zine Article
We’ve all heard the buzz that getting e-zine articles published is a highly effective, low cost method of promoting your on-line venture. While it is true that useful, intelligent articles can position you as an expert on your chosen topic and promote your website, it is quickly becoming a crowded marketplace. Just as websites began popping up like weeds a few years ago, e-zine articles are now being produced by the hundreds on a daily basis. It is no longer enough to simply write an article and wait for a publisher to come along and publish it. You need to write articles that publishers will be interested in using. Here are some tips to help create the next great e-zine article:
Why Some Newsletters Get *READ* While the Rest Get *TRASHED*!
It’s a simple truth…
Some newsletters seem to attract readers like bees to honey – whilst others seem to struggle to find a marketplace of interested subscribers. But why?
What’s the big difference between success and failure when it comes to publishing your own newsletter? And what should you aim to do, if your goal is to build an army of loyal subscribers?
For the first time ever, acknowledged newsletter expert, Michael Green, reveals his top five hints for creating your own winning newsletter or Ezine publication.
Free Hosting and SEO
Dear Robin,
Q: I have the questions:
a. Free hosting have a lot of publicity. If I include a site in a free hosting, the SE will penalize? Free hosting are indexed?
A:
There are a lot of problems with hosting your site at the free hosting companies, like Geocities. First off, if your site is for your business, it doesn’t make a very good first impression if you haven’t even purchased your own domain.
That’s Cold
If you hate cold-calling, you are not alone. In my dealings with other business owners in general, I have yet to find anyone who likes doing it.
What is “cold-calling”? That’s when you call someone who fits your market profile in order to introduce your products and services; someone who has never heard of you and who has not previously expressed any interest. It is sometimes called (I hate to use the term) “telemarketing”, but that word has some pretty bad connotations thanks to unscrupulous business practices of some companies in that business. Personally, I think that it’s much different when you call on your own behalf than when you hire a company to do it for you.
Google And Duplicate Content
I’ve been following the discussion about Google and mirrored information for some time. It is “common knowledge” that Google penalizes page rank when it determines that content is duplicated somewhere else. In fact, I’ve read many experts stating that there should be no duplicate domain names and no duplicate content anywhere.
On the face of it the arguments appear to be sound. Google obviously has several billion pages in it’s database and could, it appears, easily determine if content is duplicated. It also seems, again on the face of it, that it’s reasonable to check for duplicate content, as this is the “mark of a spammer” and not necessary on the web with hyperlinking available. At least, this is the common wisdom.
Copyright Law and How it Works
Important: This article contains opinions and information about copyright law. Keep in mind that I am not a lawyer and have not been a lawyer in any past life that I am aware of. If you have specific questions about copyright law you should contact the appropriate legal resources.
Everything original that you write (or draw or paint or whatever), regardless of whether it is an email, a painting, an image, a thesis, a web page, a paragraph on a forum, or anything else is automatically copyright protected by you. It does, of course, have to be recognizable as an original work. Thus, the word “the” in a forum would hardly qualify. The exceptions generally must be spelled out in a contract that is agreed upon. For example, Webmasterworld’s Terms Of Service (TOS) modifies the copyright to both webmasterworld and the original author.
Define Yourself to Find Market Share
Sometimes, finding the right product or service to make your own is to find someone else’s version of the same product or service and discovering ways to deliver it in a different way.
Someone once told me that I could not make it in a business because there were already people in that particular business!
The thought struck me as stupid. That is why we have other restaurants right. It was not enough to put a McDonalds in town, we also had to build a Burger King, Wendy’s, Carl’s Junior, Braums, Sonic and several more all of the local variety. All of them offer us hamburgers, so why do we need more than one of them?
