Japanese Internet users spent nearly 15 percent of their total online time during the month on these sites, making the entertainment category one of the most popular and engaging content categories.

Trying to prevent or curtail rampant imposters and squatters, Facebook has introduced digital signatures for setting up Public Profile Pages. Unlike user profiles, these are pages intended for businesses, brands, organizations, and celebrities looking to connect with fans and supporters via the social network.

The international Red Cross has launched a social network to raise awareness about humanitarian issues and to share what people are doing to make a difference.
The new Web portal, "Our world. Your move." Focuses on the human costs of war, climate change, displacement, disease and hunger. The new site allows users to share their experiences via videos, photos and blog posts.

Conficker Using MySpace, eBay As A Clock
The worldwide computer meltdown culprit that never was, Conficker.C, is back, this time as Conficker.E, and is floating along peer-to-peer to networks with one apparent mission: to check MySpace, eBay and other major sites for the time of day.
Just a week after the April Fools Day hysteria surrounding Conficker.C, most have forgotten and gone on. Security researchers, however, have not, and have noted more activity and a possible connection to the spambot Waledac.

YouTube Launches Click-To-Buy In Eight New Countries
Credit Suisse analysts may have to revisit their estimate that YouTube will lose $470 million this year. The site has rolled out its Click-to-Buy program – which is intended to result in quite a lot of revenue-sharing – in eight new countries.
