Sony Can

Sony has begun taking pre-orders for its new electronic reader, the Reader Daily Edition, but due to unexpected demand it can’t guarantee shipments before the holidays.

Its $399 Reader Daily Edition is available for pre-order on SonyStyle.com, but the company says it will ship between December 18 and January 8, and "an actual delivery date cannot be guaranteed."

MySpace Picks Up Imeem

Imeem, which was able to declare itself "the first and only social networking service to secure licenses from all four major music companies" about two years ago, now appears to be folding.  Reports indicate that MySpace is set to acquire the business for a rather piddling amount.

Imeem was once a fairly successful organization.  In addition to sealing the music company deals, it’d earned the backing of Sequoia Capital (which funded Apple, Yahoo, Google, and YouTube over the years), and was attracting around 25 million visitors per month.

Google May Take Over More Design Jobs

Web designers beware. Google is expanding its templates for Google Sites, which is part of Google Apps, and the company is really pushing Google Apps these days. What this means is that as more businesses adopt Google Apps and find a wider variety of site templates to choose from, the less they may need the services of web designers for basic design work (developers are a different story).

Online video ads increase engagement

Online video ads perform better in content sites such as news, finance, sports, and music than in social networks or gaming sites, according to a new study by ad firm Eyeblaster.

The study found that video advertising increases engagement, doubling Dwell Time (the amount of time users engage with an ad) and increases Dwell Rate (the number of ad impressions leading to users engaging with an ad), by 20 percent.
