Not that this is an uncommon phenomenon these days, but there are quite a few Twitter-related news items floating around. I’d like to share some quick notes about five of them.
1. Twitter has surpassed the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal in traffic. This is particularly fascinating given the whole state of the news industry.
Back in February, Murdok posted a couple stories about a competitor to eBay that you may or may not have heard of. It’s called Bonanzle, and it’s been growing remarkably all year.
When we first looked at Bonanzle, we found out that it had been voted the best eBay alternative, and that the site had reached a million listings in six months. In December, the site was quoted as having 170,000 unique visitors.
Rapper, singer, professional pout composer Kanye West has a new beef, this time with the fake Twitter accounts being set up in his name.

After a series of murders perpetrated by the now famed “craigslist killer” and significant pressure from state attorneys general and law enforcement across the country, Craigslist is shutting down its “erotic services” category.
The "what is Twitter about?" article is not a new concept. It’s been discussed frequently pretty much since Twitter was launched. Yet people still have a hard time grasping the concept.
The ten most heavily used Web brands in the UK have it pretty good. Insanely good, as a matter of fact. A new report from Nielsen Online indicates that these ten brands (which were looked at along with 7,625 others) account for 45 percent of all UK Internet time.
A while back, Google launched a Tasks lab for Gmail. Now they have added a new tasks feature for Google Calendar after many requests for one.
There is now a "tasks" link in the upper right-hand corner of the Google Calendar page. Once you click on it, a box will come up on the opposite side of the screen, where you can add tasks in list form. They come with checkboxes so you can check them off as you accomplish them, and a form to enter a due date. The task will then appear on your calendar on the day it is due.
As you are probably aware, Google offers local business ads, which are essentially AdWords ads associated with specific business locations. They appear on Google Maps, Google, and across Google’s ad network.
Earlier this year, Google announced the addition of four new links for these ads – "Get Directions," "Street View" where available, "Save to My Maps," and "Send." The links were introduced as an effort to help people better locate the business that was being advertised.
MediaNews Group, owner of the Denver Post and 53 other daily newspapers plans to start charging for online access to all its newspaper content on its websites.
MediaNews CEO William Dean Singleton wrote a memo to employees saying, "We cannot continue to give all our content away for free."
