It’s no secret that the economy hasn’t been good this year, but today’s Cyber Monday, and if you’re planning on doing some shopping online, Google wants to help. Individuals who pay for things using Google Checkout may be able to save as much as $20 per purchase thanks to a new promotion.
A post on the Official Google Blog urged readers this morning to "save with exclusive discounts of $5, $10 or $20 at hundreds of participating stores, including TigerDirect.com, BlueNile.com and Petco.com."
Amazon announced that its Kindle device, an electronic reader, has broken its record for sales in a single month, during November. This information does not even take into account Cyber Monday, which is today.
The company says that the Kindle is the most "wished" for, the most "gifted," and the number one best-selling product across all product categories on Amazon.com.
You may have read about the online price wars going on this holiday season between Walmart and Amazon. It looks like both companies are doing quite well as a result (not that that is much of a surprise). According to data from Experian Hitwise, Walmart was the top retail site on Thanksgiving Day, and Amazon was the top retail site on Black Friday.
If you have any kind of passing interest in video games then you’ve more than likely heard of Call of Duty. The series has been around since 2003, and including sequels, spin-off/expansions has released 12 different games. The latest title is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) and looks to be the best selling yet.
comScore released findings this week from a study of the online habits of Portuguese Internet users. Interestingly, they found that the Portuguese Internet audience grew to nearly 4 Million users in September.
Over 3.8 million people age 15 and older accessed the Internet from a home or work location in Portugal in September, viewing an average 1,843 pages and spending an average 1.9 hours online per person during the month.

Just in time for the shopping craziness that is Black Friday, Google’s made it easier for companies to get coupons to consumers who are on the move. Google Local Business Center users can now make their coupons accessible to people through mobile devices.
Yes, assuming that shoppers don’t lose the use of their fingers due to standing outside in the cold since 3 AM – or having them crushed during a stampede – getting discounts through their cell phones will be a relatively simple matter.

So many of the traditions we adhere to and enjoy during the holiday season is based on myth. Santa Claus (hope no kids are reading this), mistletoe dates back to Celtic mythology, and if many people on the internet have their way Cyber Monday could join the list.

comScore Video Metrix has released its monthly look at the performance of online video content properties. As usual, Google sites dominate the picture, largely because of YouTube, which gets 99% of Google’s video views.
The real story, however, is that Hulu is achieving record numbers. The site ranked number 2 (though significantly behind Google with 3.1% market share compared to Google’s 37.7) during the month of October, with an all time high of 856 million videos viewed.
