Google has launched a new Google Labs experiment called Browser Size, which is a tool aimed at helping webmasters see how others view their site. Google’s official description of the tool says:
Ever wondered what parts of your site can’t be seen without scrolling? Browser Size shows you what portion of users can see a give spot on the screen. This is not screen resolution but the area available to the browser – as gathered from www.google.com users.

As you read this, the inboxes of 14 Facebook developers may be reaching the breaking point. You see, Facebook’s decided to launch something it calls the Preferred Developer Consultant Program, and these lucky developers are the first to receive the social network’s official endorsements.
Experian Hitwise announced that it has found Facebook to be the top search term overall for the year 2009 after analyzing the top 300 search terms for the year. This is the first year Facebook has been the top search term, and it accounted for 0.67% of all searches, according to the research firm.
Variations of the term Facebook actually accounted for four of the top twenty-five terms, the firm says. "Facebook" itself moved up from the 10th spot in 2008 to the top spot in 2009.
Earlier, we looked at Twitter’s top trending topics of 2009. They broke it down into several top ten lists based on various categories.
Earlier today, we relayed comScore’s figures for the search market during November 2009. Now, Nielsen’s statistics covering the same timespan have been made public, and although both companies agree that Bing did well, a lot of the other details differ.
Whereas comScore believes Google gained a bit of ground on a month-over-month basis, Nielsen indicated that the search giant lost some – 0.7 percent since October, to be exact, landing it with a share of 65.4 percent.
Popular online video destination Hulu has added a new default view for the user’s queue. The new view groups all videos within the queue by show. In the past, users could only sort everything by show by clicking on the title and information column.
"As we’ve added more content and as users’ queues have grown in size, grouping by show as a default was a logical update," says Eugene Wei VP, Product at Hulu.
Facebook has launched an award system for translators, where those who translate for the social network can get special icons as they accomplish specific milestones. Awards are grouped into into the categories of voting participation, words published, and translations published.
Before we get into the meat of the article I have a challenge for you. Say “Top Twitter Trends” 3 times fast. Frustrating isn’t it. Every time I try it I end up saying “Top Twitter Twends” thus giving the Baba WaWa (Barbara Walters for you young kids) sound to it. As you have likely guessed I think I may have too much time on my hands so let’s get back to the real deal.
While many people already lie on their Facebook profile despite the pleas by Privacy Czar Mark Zuckerberg to keep the Facebook database clean for YOUR benefit, it is now an informally ‘recommended’ practice by some at Facebook. Before we move forward, let’s put this on the table first. Facebook’s move toward less privacy for its users may have profoundly changed the service once the full scope of what they are looking to do hits the masses.
