KARON: Hello Roosevelt. Thank you for taking the time to give us some details about this unusual (and highly effective) marketing idea.
Writing good web content is a lot like planning a big dinner party. You’re looking forward to having lots of guests, but you’re not sure about when they’ll arrive or how hungry they’ll be. You know Deborah will only nibble on the salad, Laura will snack on the chicken, and Dan will cheerfully devour everything you serve. As an experienced party planner, you’ll accommodate your guests’ diverse appetites. A good web writer does the same thing – accommodates the appetites of all content-hungry visitors by providing different amounts of content for different users.
We’ve noticed a disturbing trend in home page design — information overload. Web designers and developers seem to have resolved the “to click or to scroll?” controversy by loading everything onto the home page. “More and more and more is better,” they seem to be saying.
How many times have you said it? “I have got to back up my information!” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said it in this last year since buying my new computer. Why, I even bought the one with CD Write on it just so I could “back up” my information!
I’ve written articles, sent out newsletters, sent and received a ton of e-mail messages, created a bunch of folders, written an e-book, created an information booklet and even added my web site folders! Life is good!
Interview With An Ezine Marketing Pro: Alexandria K. Brown
Joshua: I’ve been very much looking forward to this, Alexandria. Can you start by telling us a little about your Internet background? You know, sort of a summary of how you got started and what you are doing now.
Alexandria:
Sure thing! About four years ago, I left my NYC advertising agency job and began my own freelance writing business. I needed an easy way to stay in touch with past associates, current clients, prospective clients everyone. I wanted to be seen as an “expert” in their eyes, to encourage them to hire me and/or refer me to possible clients. So, I started my own e-mail newsletter, or “e-zine.”

In this era of more fees, misc. charges, holding periods and back end redemptions, even at discount brokers, how are you really making out?
Entrepreneurs are blessed with the incredible gift of being to choose their own destiny. The question is what will you choose? I believe that the secret to living an abundant life is to start from a place of abundance and give generously to the world. As W.H. Auden once said, “We are all here on earth to help others; what on earth the others are here for I don’t know.”
Why should we seek to live for something greater than ourselves? It’s the right thing to do, the secret to true happiness, and it’s good for BUSINESS. You heard it right! When we live for a higher purpose, it will help you succeed in EVERY endeavor from your business to your personal life.
Increasingly, business people rely on desktop publishing. Gone are the days when a male manager would dictate words to a female typist and expect her to turn them into an eye- pleasing document. Also, once complicated documents like brochures and flyers are now easy to create in programs such as Microsoft Publisher, and even MS Word.
