Njection.com is a Web site that provides drivers information on the location of red light cameras and speed traps by allowing users to upload locations of such places which are then displayed on a map

Drivers in the U.S. can download information directly to their in- car GPS device for $40 a year and have access to continually updated files pointing out the locations of speed traps and red light cameras. Access to information about speed traps on the site is free.

Founder of the site, Shannon Atkinson says the company is planning on expanding the service to London and the rest of Europe soon.

Atkinson’s full time job is working as a systems engineer and he developed the Web site, Njection.com last year. The majority of the information on speed traps is user generated, and collected anonymously. Users also have the ability to rate the speed traps when they upload the locations.

For $35 a year users can have access to the locations of just red light cameras via GPS devices and for $25 they can have information about where speed traps are located.

Atkinson says he has not received any complaints from law enforcement. “I’ve gotten lots of positive feed back from police officers,” he told Reuters. “It’s the idea of getting people to slow down in those areas and if this helps, they’re happy.”

He did point out that some law enforcement agencies might not be happy about the potential of lost revenue for tickets not being issued.
