Microsoft Calls Out To Yahoo Employee(s)

More and more analysts are suggesting that a separate corporation buy Yahoo, and as Yahoo’s stock continues to sink, Microsoft is one of the most-mentioned names.  But for the moment, Microsoft seems content to go after employees, rather than the company itself.

A member of Microsoft’s marketing staffing team has apparently sought out at least one Yahoo worker with a “we’d like to chat” message.  Henry Blodget published the note, and in it, the recruiter writes, “I know a lot of people from Yahoo! have been reaching out to us lately because they are nervous about the pending layoffs.  I wanted to give you an opportunity to explore Microsoft careers as well.”Microsoft Calls Out To Yahoo Employee(s)

A few other details in the message make it look personalized, so we were leaning towards the idea that this isn’t a wide-scale hiring spree.  But there’s also a part that states, “If you are open to having a brief conversation, or know someone who would be, I’d love to hear from you!”  So this may indeed be a big grab.

Either way, it’s not good news for Yahoo.  The company is having enough problems without its teams getting picked apart; the latest reports point out that shares have hit a four-year low, and experts at Bear Stearns and Citigroup have joined the call for an acquisition.

On that note, there’s no word concerning how quickly the Yahoo employee wrote back to Microsoft, and how many times the employee used the words “yes” and “please.”
