Today was “New Feature Tuesday” again for Hulu as part of the site’s Hulu for the Holidays run, an initiative that sees Hulu adding TV shows on Mondays, new features on Tuesdays, and new movies on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Today’s new features include the ability to embed videos from their HD Gallery, and the ability to rearrange videos in your queue by dragging and dropping them to the desired spot. Rebecca Harper at the Hulu Blog explains:
To get started, simply hover your mouse over any video title, press and hold your mouse button, and drag the item up or down in your queue. Move as many videos as you like, and then press the “update order” button to save your changes. You can still rearrange the playback order by renumbering the videos using the input boxes in the “Play Order” column, or using the “move to top” arrows located next to the input boxes. Additionally, you may sort your queue by show title, expiration date or airdate by clicking on the column titles — just remember to press the “update order” button when all of your updates have been made.
Other features that Hulu has released include: new actor search features, video description features, recommendations, closed caption location, a Hulu for the Holidays widget, a buffer progress bar, and the ability to watch embedded videos at full screen.
I’m enjoying the weekly sets of new features from Hulu so far, and am looking forward to seeing what else they do to improve the site’s usability.
In other Hulu-related news, the site is about to get some competition from CBS at TV.com, and Marketing Pilgrim is reporting that they are losing viewers and advertisers.
