Google Update Video Search Engine

Google Video is now more search engine than video site as the search giant revamps it to include framing similar to how they present images on Google video.

Google has been migrating and integrating its video offering to and with YouTube, videos from which dominate the search results.

A search for “funny” brings back all YouTube results on the first page, even though Google is supposed to pulling from several sources including Yahoo, MySpace, DailyMotion, MetaCafe, and Veoh, among others.

But that may be expected, as the top three sources combined, including Google Video itself, can’t match the number of videos on YouTube.

The GoogleOperatingSystem blog notes that Yahoo, Google, and MySpace can only offer 7.3 million videos together, compared with YouTube’s 42.5 million.

But it would be nice to see videos from competing sites better integrated into the results for more variety.
