Kodaks Playing With Wi-Fi Cameras

Kodak announced on Thursday their newest camera, the Easyshare-One zoom digital will be out for sale in October. The camera, available for the holidays, has a unique distinction: the world first Wi-Fi camera.

Kodak for years has been known for relatively simple yet innovative camera. They’re Brownie model was around for decades and you can still find them. While they’re mostly known for their film, Eastman Kodak picked up some buzz with this camera that allows users to send photographs, via email.

“The KODAK EASYSHARE-ONE camera does more than just incorporate basic Wi-Fi functionality. It combines Kodak’s signature ease-of-use with groundbreaking technology to give people a single, innovative device for sharing, taking, organizing, and printing pictures,” said Mary Hadley, general manager, digital cameras, Eastman Kodak Company.

“With its ability to send e-mail from the camera, to connect to the KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery at home and on-the-go from thousands of public hotspots worldwide, to store up to 1,500 favorite pictures, and to simplify viewing and operation via its unique touch screen and graphical menus, the EASYSHARE-ONE camera marks a new era in digital photography. As the ultimate picture sharing device, it delivers a completely new digital photography experience unmatched by any other camera.”

Kodak bills this camera as, “From Point-and-Shoot to Point-and-Share,” and with 4 megapixels and 3x optical zoom this should provide some nice photos if users are willing to spring for the extra Wi-Fi can even send these to a printer.

The price, at $599 is a little steep for many households but as it comes down, it will certainly be widespread and with the technology inside, we can only expect future cameras to have a similar features. Professional photographers will likely find this a boon for the future.
